Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 September 2026.

HoodRank is operated by Ackermann Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 38 630 312 328). We want to be upfront about what personal information HoodRank actually collects and why — this policy describes that honestly, as good practice, rather than a generic template.

What we collect

Account data. If you create an account, we store your email address (used as your account identifier), your display name, and — if you sign up with a password — a securely hashed version of it (we never store your plaintext password). If you sign in with Google, we instead receive and store your name, email address, avatar image URL, and a Google account identifier.

Payment information. If you purchase a report or unlimited comparisons, our payment processor, Stripe, handles your card details directly — we never see or store your card number. We do store the payment amount, currency, status, what it was for, and Stripe’s reference for that transaction.

Saved comparisons. If you save a property or suburb comparison, we store it against your account email so you can find it again on your dashboard.

Anonymous usage cookie. Before you sign in, we set a cookie (hr_anon) containing a random id, kept for up to 365 days, solely to apply a free-usage limit for guests. It doesn’t contain your name, email or any other personal information, and isn’t linked to your identity unless and until you create an account.

Cookies and analytics

We don’t load any analytics or tracking tool until you accept the cookie banner — and if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we treat that as a decline automatically. Once you opt in, we may use:

  • PostHog — product analytics and (input-masked) session replay, so we can see how the product is used. PostHog processes this data on servers located in the United States by default, which means opting in involves your usage data being disclosed overseas.
  • Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics — general site analytics.
  • Sentry — error monitoring, so we can find and fix bugs. Cookies, authentication headers and query-string content are stripped from error reports before they ever leave your browser.

Before any product-usage event reaches PostHog, we strip or hash likely personal fields client-side (for example, email addresses are hashed, and phone numbers, names and addresses are removed from event data). If you’re signed in, PostHog still receives a hashed identifier so your activity can be associated across sessions — this is not fully anonymous, though it doesn’t expose your raw email or name to the analytics tool.

What we don’t collect

HoodRank has no contact form, newsletter signup or feedback form today, so no personal information is collected through those channels.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your data

You can view and update your account details from your profile page at any time. For anything you can’t change yourself — including a request to delete your account and associated data — contact us at contact@hoodrank.au.

Who we share data with

We share data with the service providers named above where necessary to run HoodRank: Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in, and Tag Manager), PostHog (product analytics), and Sentry (error monitoring). We don’t sell your personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as HoodRank changes; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version.

We use cookies for product analytics to improve HoodRank. Nothing is tracked until you accept. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.
